On September 10, 2025, at Utah Valley University in Orem, conservative commentator and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was fatally shot during a live “Prove Me Wrong” event. Witnesses say the gunshot came from a nearby building as he spoke to a live audience. The bullet struck him in the neck, and Kirk later died in the hospital. Authorities have ruled the incident a politically motivated assassination.
Although an individual was briefly detained, officials quickly clarified that no suspect is in custody, and the shooter remains unidentified and at large.
Political leaders from both parties—including Trump, Speaker Mike Johnson, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries—have condemned the attack and urged for unity against political violence. The FBI and ATF are currently investigating.
