Singer Ciara, who shares custody of her son Future Zahir with rapper Future, has quietly made a meaningful update to his legal name. Russell Wilson’s surname has been officially added—so while Future still retains his original last name, Wilburn, he now also carries the Wilson name.
Behind the Decision
Though the change took place years ago, it wasn’t public until Russell referenced it in a now-viral U.S. Open family photo, captioned:
“Mrs. @ciara Wilson, Future Wilson & Sienna Wilson.”
According to TMZ, Ciara filed a petition in 2019 to change Future’s surname to Russell Wilson’s—though that initial request was denied. Nonetheless, she later successfully added Wilson alongside Wilburn, without opting for full adoption.
A Symbol of Family Unity
The move reflects deep family bonds. Russell has long embraced the fatherhood role—referring to his stepson as one of his children and publicly expressing his love and responsibility.
