Legal Troubles Mounting
Damon “Dame” Dash, co-founder of Roc‑A‑Fella Records, is facing fresh legal accusations. He has been accused of working with his girlfriend, Raquel Horn, to conceal assets and avoid paying court‑ordered judgments, including a roughly $800,000 payout stemming from a 2022 defamation case involving filmmaker Josh Webber.
Alleged Fraudulent Transfers
The lawsuit claims that Dash transferred assets from his company Poppington LLC to The Dash Group, effectively merging the entities to shield wealth from creditors. This alleged maneuver allowed him to publicly appear insolvent while still benefiting from income—such as consulting payments—flowing through the newly arranged entities.
Debts Beyond $800K
These new accusations come amid a tsunami of financial woes. Dash reportedly owes at least $5 million in legal judgments, including defamation and copyright infringement cases, in addition to $20 million in unpaid federal and state taxes. Tax liens and evictions—such as those faced by his daughter—have added to the pressure.
Court Warns of Jail Time
Federal judges have issued stark warnings that Dash’s continued noncompliance could lead to contempt charges and even his arrest. One judge noted the seriousness of repeated failures to turnover financial documents and comply with court orders.
Dash Breaks Silence
Dame has publicly pushed back on the allegations. Following the auctioning of his Roc‑A‑Fella stake, he expressed frustration over the impact on his reputation and blamed financial systems and legal maneuvers as attempts to undermine him.
